Although the economy is in the tank, I figure we need to carve out some money for a little vacation once in awhile. I have wondered if you can stay on a tight budget and still get away on a short trip. The major travel websites tend to all offer similar travel deals that can save money.
When you select from among the various online travel companies, you are looking for the best price for car rental, hotel rooms and airline tickets, and also a trip without logistical problems. Of course visiting all of those would not be particularly cheap, but you could fit a lot of vacation fun into a short period of time. The slow economy will be sticking with us for awhile, and the silver lining is that you can look for good resort hotel deals if you have the money for a trip, since there are a lot of motivated hotel operators even in SoCal.
In slow economic times the theme parks tend to offer more discounts, as to the museums and other activities. Despite increases and fluctuations in gasoline prices, a driving trip to So Cal might well be a cheaper vacation option for many Americans than flying to another vacation destination.
